The board, staff and Club members would like to thank our local Macy's store, their employees and everyone that participated in the 2015 "Thanks for Sharing" campaign.

Starting in September Macy's customers could enroll with a $25 fee charged to their Macy's Credit Card and they got 10% rewards on most Macy's Card purchases from their enrollment date through December 31, 2015. In turn, Macy's is donating $10 for each enrollment to local and national charities like ours.

2015 Bay Area Ladies Luncheon

IMG 2328The 2015 Bay Area Women’s Luncheon, held on Thursday, May 14th and was attended by over 450 women. The Luncheon, sponsored by Giddings Boatworks and Umpqua Bank, is an annual fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon, to benefit the programs offered to 2,800 youth each year.

This year’s Luncheon, held at the William J. Sweet Memorial Tennis Center, was catered by Southwestern Oregon Community College Catering Services and featured a “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” theme.

The event began with 2015 Boys & Girls Club Youth of the year CeAndra Nelson singing “Over the Rainbow,” accompanied by Jonathan Mapilisan on the ukulele. CeAndra, playing the role of Dorothy, then followed the yellow brick road around the room to find her way back to the Boys & Girls Club. Along the way she met a scarecrow (Hailey Lowas), a tin man (Lindsey Wright) and a cowardly lion (Chance Kimball), who all followed her to the Club to get brains, heart and the courage to become caring, productive, responsible citizens.

Rob Miles presented the “Women Making a Difference” award to 2015 recipient Cindy Ball for her tireless contributions to helping youth in the community.

The event closed with CeAndra telling her story of why there is no place like the Boys & Girls Club.
